Speculation about next week’s federal budget is lower than normal this year because the House of Commons standing committee on finance did not release its usual pre-budget recommendations. Even so, KPMG’s TaxNews Flash has cobbled together its best guess as to what might be in there. Because of the size of the federal deficit and the tight economic environment, KPMG doesn’t expect broadbased tax relief or major increases in government spending… PricewaterhouseCoopers expects “more focus on additional measures around enhancing and stabilizing pension savings, and more support to enable individuals to maintain working in their later years and still maintain their tax assisted savings plans (RRSP and RRIF).” It expects no changes to GST/HST. http://www.nationalpost.com/todays-paper/federal+budget+wish+list/4469627/story.html
