Nolan Thiessen [CA] finds it hard to describe the feeling he gets on the ice, preparing to throw the first rocks as his three teammates/friends watch on, trying to look into the future and decide where the play will go. “It’s weird. I’ve never really broken it down. I just love playing competitive sports. I love getting out there and playing against some of the best teams in the world and trying to beat them and be one of them. It’s a drive that I need to fulfill, and curling does that.” In fact, Mr. Thiessen is among the world’s best curlers. As a member of Team Koe from Edmonton, he will be competing at the Olympic Trials at Rexall Place in Edmonton Dec. 6 through Dec. 13 to determine which of Canada’s eight top men’s curling teams will represent the country at the 2010 games in Vancouver… That moment on the ice is far removed from his 9-to-5 existence as assurance manager of global consulting firm Ernst & Young’s new Edmonton West office. Mr. Thiessen has a degree in commerce from the University of Manitoba and became a CA in 2007.
