Calgarian begins climb to the top of the world

Calgary climber is on his way up Everest and could summit by mid-week, provided the weather holds. Bill Borger [CA], 36, left for Nepal at the end of March and has been acclimatizing in the mountains for his push to the peak, which starts today… For Borger, the feat will make him the first Canadian to have conquered both the world’s highest peak and the English Channel. His quest is helping to raise money for the Calgary HandiBus Association. Marni Halwas, director of fund development for the association, said the climb has already raised $376,800 for the charity, which provides transportation for Calgarians with special needs, including the elderly, terminally ill and those with physical or mental disabilities… Borger, a chartered accountant, is married and has two children. He runs The Borger Group of Companies.
