Perched just above the south side of the river, tucked in along the east side of Mill Creek, Strathearn and Bonnie Doon can seem out-of-the-way to those who live outside the neighbourhoods, even though they’re only a few minutes’ drive from downtown. Adding to the otherworldly feel of the area is its distinct French flavor, courtesy of the university’s Faculté Saint-Jean and across the street, la Cité francophone, a French community centre that houses several small businesses…Strathearn resident Lisa Filice, a chartered accountant whose office is a few doors down from the Wired Cup, says she’s met more of her neighbours at the café than in all the previous years she lived in the area before it opened… A number of the business owners along that block attend a Thursday lunchtime yoga session at Soul Strength Yoga, says Filice.
