May 2010: Canadian Exposure Draft Issued Regarding Partner Rotation and Consultation Paper Issued Regarding Other Possible Changes to Independence Requirements (PDF FIle, 26KB) In response to changes made to the independence standards included in the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (“Code”) issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the Canadian CA profession’s Public Trust Committee formed an Independence Task Force (ITF) to determine whether any changes were required to the independence provisions included in the Rules of Professional Conduct (“Rules”).
April 2010: Accounting Exposure Drafts Issued for Not-For-Profit Organizations (NFPs) (PDF File, 30KB) Two independent exposure drafts have been released for not-for-profit organizations (NFPs), dividing NFPs into two categories: not-for-profit organizations and government not-for-profit organizations.
April 2010: Tips for Cost-Effective ISA Application (PDF File, 353KB) These tips, from the International Federation of Accountants (reprinted with permission), encourages auditors to assess whether the risk-based approach, which underpins the clarified International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) issued in 2009, is being applied in a cost-effective manner.
