CAs must continually enhance their knowledge and expertise to remain at the forefront of today’s competitive market. Affirmative membership votes in 1998 and 1999 established that Alberta’s CAs are to meet ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) requirements beginning in 2000.
In 2006 the ICAA membership voted to harmonize CPD requirements to align with national and international standards; specifically the International Federation of Accountants’ (IFAC) CPD standards. This bought our CPD requirements in alignment with those adhered to by our colleagues across Canada and around the world.
Alberta’s CAs must meet the mandatory CPD requirements outlined below:
CPD requirements
Annual Requirement
20 hours for all members - ½ must be verifiable
3-Year Rolling Total
120 hours for all members - ½ must be verifiable
CPD Exemption

To better serve you, we have developed the following tools to assist in your CPD tracking and reporting requirements.
