The Edmonton Epilepsy Association will need an accountant as a member of the Board of Directors and treasurer of the Association in March 2012. I will have served as treasurer for the past three years and will be retiring at that time.
Board meets once a month except for one summer month and December – ten meetings per year. In addition, the treasurer is a member of the Executive Committee which meets twice per year, a total of twelve meetings per year.
Monthly financial statements are prepared and accounting records maintained by the Executive Director, presented to the Board members for approval by the treasurer. The Association’s financial statements are audited by an external auditor.
The record keeping is extremely accurate and up to date at all times. The monthly financial statements are usually submitted to the treasurer within one or two days of the month end. During my term as treasurer, there has only been one year end adjustment by the auditor, and it was not a materiel amount – I wish I had clients like this!!!
