Professional Services

In today’s complex world, CAs are often faced with resolving challenging issues on which a second, confidential opinion may be of benefit. The Institute’s Professional Services program can provide this valuable second opinion. The mandate of Professional Services is to advise and assist all members in meeting their responsibilities to clients, employers and the public. The emphasis is on providing early, confidential advice and assistance for members and/or firms to consider in an effort to avoid more serious and costly problems—such as litigation claims, legal costs, and complaints requiring disciplinary action—down the road. Services include consultation and advice about technical, professional and ethical issues, group presentations on topics of interest, regular publications including Member Advisories and Public Practice Bulletins on critical topics, and on-line postings of relevant material.

Consultations

Confidential and informal telephone consultations regarding professional matters are provided free of charge to Alberta CAs (and members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan) and CA students.

For general advisory services, contact Director, Professional Services, Sean Johnson CA at 1-800-232-9406 or via email at s.johnson@icaa.ab.ca.

Please note: Feedback is general in nature as the advisor may not have been provided with all the necessary information. The assistance provided is not an opinion and is not binding on the Institute. By accessing this service, you accept responsibility for conducting your own due diligence and making your own decisions after exercising professional judgment. You agree to release and indemnify the Institute and Member Advisory personnel for any claim to damages that could result based on your discussion.
