To apply for admission to membership with the ICAA a member application form is required:

Member Registration Initial  (PDF File) for students (ICAA and CASB) who are applying for initial CA registration 

Member Registration by Affiliation (PDF File) for CAs who already have their CA designation with another provincial Institute/Ordre

On April 1, 2009, the Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) came into effect. The TILMA states that any worker certified for an occupation by a regulatory authority of BC or Alberta shall be recognized as qualified to practice that occupation by the other province.

Under the TILMA, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (ICAA) will recognize any worker who is currently certified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia as qualified to practice as a Chartered Accountant in Alberta.

The application requirements for a British Columbia Chartered Accountant coming to Alberta are:

1. Completion of the application form including 
    a. Declaration of good character 
    b. References 
    c. Statutory declaration of professional knowledge and conduct 
    d. Member fee
2. Proof of good standing with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia

Each member must make an annual declaration of their CPD activities, online submission of the declaration is available through CPD Compliance Declaration Form Online version, or CPD Compliance Declaration Form 2009 CPD Declaration.

The use of the title or initial CPA is restricted under the Regulated Accountant Professions Act. To apply for use of CPA in Alberta please complete and submit the Application for use of CPA Title.

Changes to name, home address or employment information can be completed through the secure area of the website Login In or by completing the Address Name Change form and returning to the Registration Department.

 
Certificate - Declaration of Loss. If a member chooses to resign their membership with the ICAA they must make a written request to the ICAA Registrar and return their membership certificate. If the member has lost or is unable to locate the certificate they must provide a declaration of loss duly notarized.

 
Fee Reduction Request. A member’s activity status may change during a year and their active earning may be such that they may be eligible for a fee reduction. Submission of the fee reduction request will provide ICAA with information to change billing status.

 
Registration Verification. If you need to provide a potential employer, immigration or others with written verification of your registration as a Chartered Accountant, we can help. Complete the Registration Verification Form and fax or email it to the Registration Department.
