The Regulated Accounting Profession Act prohibits any person from engaging in, or claiming to be able to engage in, audit or review engagements unless that person is registered as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant or Certified General Accountant.
Chartered Accountants are required to register a public accounting firm in order to conduct audit or review engagements or other public accounting services in the province of Alberta. These registered public accounting firms have professional liability insurance and are bound by Rules of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics.
