Get Connected!
The Get Connected! events, taking place in both Calgary and Edmonton, will provide students with details about the different types of CA training experiences available and each session will feature a panel of diverse local CAs who will speak about their current roles and provide insight into what students need to consider before selecting a particular CA training route. There will also be time for mingling and networking with CAs, ICAA Staff, and other students interested in the CA profession. Click here to Get Connected!
The Calgary event will take place March 24 at 6 p.m. at the University of Calgary.
The Edmonton event will take place March 31 at 6 p.m. at Enterprise Square.
CA Outlook
The ICAA has published the inaugural issue of CA Outlook, a quarterly e-newsletter designed to inform the public about the developments in the CA profession and at the Institute. This issue contains information about the ICAA’s centennial initiatives, annual tax clinic program, and the new CA Bridging Program.

Professional Corporations
On March 1, 2010 the
Professional Corporations Statutes Amendment Act, 2009 (formerly know as Bill 53) will come into effect. Under this legislation, professional corporations can issue non-voting shares to certain people other than professionals, such as spouses and children.
If, as an Alberta CA, you are planning to make changes to your own professional corporation, visit the
Professional Corporations section of the ICAA website for additional related information, as well as the appropriate forms and applications.
Tax Clinics
2010 Tax Clinics: Volunteers Needed
Tax time is just around the corner and so are the ICAA's annual Tax Clinics! Each spring, from March to April, tax clinic volunteers dedicate a few hours of their time to help low income seniors, disabled, unemployed, new Canadian citizens and others complete their personal tax returns.
You don't have to be a tax expert to help! The tax returns are generally fairly basic. Prior to the clinic, all volunteers will receive an information package and basic guidelines for preparing these types of tax returns. Tax software is also provided, courtesy of our corporate sponsor, Intuit.
Help us make a difference! For a list of clinics that still require volunteers, click here.
