About the CAEF

The Chartered Accountants Education Foundation of Alberta

The Chartered Accountants Education Foundation of Alberta (CAEF) was established in 1982 as the Alberta CA Profession’s non-profit foundation to support business and accounting education across the province. The Foundation is led by a Board of Governors consisting of dedicated CAs from throughout Alberta. The Foundation promotes the CA profession by providing support to post-secondary institutions, students, accounting educators and thought leadership initiatives.

In its first quarter-century, the CAEF has provided over $10 million towards business education. It is through the contribution of every Alberta CA, and additional generous donations for the programs noted below, that the Foundation is able to continue making an impact on attracting the best and brightest to the profession. This is truly an outstanding accomplishment of which all CAs should be proud.

Each member’s annual $75 contribution is allocated to support:

• University operational funding
• Student conferences and career info events
• PhD Support and Teaching Prize
• Brand and donor recognition
• Operating costs  

In addition to these programs supported by member contributions, the CAEF offers a variety of other options where CAs and the community can support business education in Alberta.  Through generous donations and endowments, the CAEF currently supports the following programs:

• Providing over 50 recipients with scholarships, awards and bursaries annually.
• Supporting post-secondary institutions through the Foundation’s matching program.
• Sponsoring innovative curriculum and thought leadership initiatives with special project funding.
• Promoting the CA profession in Alberta through various sponsorship initiatives.

Why donate through the CAEF? 

The CAEF encourages members, firms and the business community to direct their support of business education through the Foundation in order to:

• Provide a single point of contact for post-secondary institutions and the business community for interacting with the CA profession with respect to education
• Compile and leverage all donations to maximize recognition and influence of the CAEF and its generous donors
• Facilitate the giving process by managing and administering donor funds according to their wishes and the needs of those they support.
