Congratulations!
On behalf of ICAA Council, and all Alberta CAs, welcome to the CA profession. Your hard work, knowledge and commitment have allowed you to reach a very important goal—the successful completion of the UFE. Take time to enjoy this accomplishment. You have earned it!
The skills that you have developed to this point will provide you with the building blocks for a long and successful career. As a CA, you have the opportunity to now develop that career in the fashion that suits your interests, expertise and lifestyle. By demonstrating integrity, expertise and insight in your professional activities, many doors will open, thereby providing you with a myriad of opportunities.
While it is a time for celebration, it also is important to recognize that the “Chartered Accountant” designation that you have just earned comes with a responsibility to carry on the best traditions of the profession, such as honesty, integrity. It also provides a unique opportunity to give back to the community. By doing so, and staying true to the values of the profession, you will be well-positioned to become not only a respected professional, but also a great person. That subsequent achievement may be the most important accomplishment of all.
Again, congratulations. I look forward to meeting you, and all of the Class of 2011, at the various graduation events around the province in early 2012!
