Requirements to Become a Practice Reviewer

Education

A practice reviewer shall be duly registered in Alberta as a Chartered Accountant or a Certified Management Accountant and be in good standing

Experience

A practice reviewer shall have the following minimum experience:

a)   five years of recent relevant public accounting experience and
b)  over any three of the immediately preceding five years, have accumulated the number of hours noted herein, either directly or by persons under the candidate’s supervision: 

i)   a total of 750 audit hours of experience, with audit being as defined in Regulated Accounting Profession Act (RAPA), and 
ii)   a total of 1500 review hours of experience, with review being as defined in RAPA

OR

c) equivalent professional experience to provisions a) and b) above, as determined and evaluated by the respective Practice Review Committee of an accounting organization.
