Are you an IT professional that has a strong project lead background and is looking to move into a managerial role? If so, the Institute of Chartered Accountants is currently seeking an IT Manager. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology (IT), the Managers’ key role is to supervise and lead a client focused IT team. Main responsibilities will deal with project work, dealing with the day-to-day running of the department, and providing assistance with technical issues as they arise. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background but their greatest and most valuable asset will be their leadership skills and strong ability to build a rapport in order to serve as a key liaison with other business stakeholders. The responsibilities of this position are outlined as follows: 60% Projects o Build business case’s for potential projects while working with the end user in identifying appropriate technology and process o Managing and leading various projects o Performing detailed business analysis in project work o Working with other team members to help meet project timelines 25% Managing Staff o Oversee three IT team members o Providing guidance to team ensuring they have proper resources to accomplish team goals and meet timelines o Managing the Helpdesk to identify when tasks require extra resources to be completed in a timely manner o Build positive team dynamics o Work with staff to create efficiencies in processes 10% Researching New Technologies o Researching new technologies and existing technologies to ensure we are kept abreast of the newest technologies and are making the best use of our existing technology 5% Strategic Planning o Assisting Director with the strategic direction of the department keeping inline with the ICAA’s strategic plan As the ideal candidate you will have a degree or diploma in Information Technology with 3 to 5 years of industry experience. You will further supplement this experience with a minimum 3 years as a team lead or in a supervisory capacity. You will be well versed in Windows 2003 or higher, and comfortable with SQL syntax. Network experience, familiarity with .Net and .ASPX would be considered an asset. Good attention to detail, strong problem solving skills and being an effective communicator would be required for this position. Finally, your past roles will demonstrate that you are deadline driven, at ease with multi-tasking, and an effective supervisor.
