Wednesday, June 9

Past Presidents' Dinner (5:00 - 7:00 pm)

ICAA Past Presidents are invited to connect with others who have served in the role over a fabulous dinner before joining the official start of activities at the Welcome Reception. Note: This event is for Past ICAA Presidents and their significant others only.

Kick off the events in style at the Welcome Reception. Check in, receive your official Celebrating 100 Years of Alberta CAs package, and spend some time catching up with old friends and making new contacts!

Thursday, June 10

Start the day off in style with an open-house style buffet breakfast. Reminisce as you peruse some mementos and memorabilia from the history of the profession.

Golf Tournament supporting STARS (7:00 am – 2:00 pm)
Registration starts at 7:00 am. Please arrive no later than 7:30 am

Come out for a beautiful morning on the greens! A shotgun start ensures a timely round for all at the world-class Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course. This phenomenal course meanders past glacial-fed lakes and features elevated tee boxes, dramatic bunkers and vistas that scan the surrounding mountain peaks. The course is rated by SCOREGolf Magazine as Canada’s #1 resort golf course—come see why! Following your morning on the links, join us for a mouth-watering BBQ lunch. Enjoy camaraderie with colleagues, clients and friends, as we announce tournament winners and handout prizes. The format will be a Texas Scramble, making the game fun for everyone! And, if you needed another reason, net proceeds from the event will be used to support STARS, the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society.

Family-friendly Guided Nature Walk (10:00 – 11:00 am)

Guides will lead you on a walk through the breathtaking natural beauty of the area, highlighting and explaining the abundant vegetation and animal life as well as providing details on the history of this amazing part of our province. This is not a strenuous hike, so it is perfectly suited for all family members.

Are you interested in the latest accounting research and/or an academic career? Join faculty members from the University of Alberta School of Business as they present new research and discuss options for CAs who have an interest in an academic career.

Wine Tasting (1:00 – 3:00 pm)
Ballroom A 
Join experts from the Jasper Park Lodge as they present a variety of red and white wines for examination and evaluation. Learn about the flavours, aromas, and characteristics of the wines, as well as appropriate food pairings. The tasting will also include food pairing samples and provide recipes for the dishes served.

Revisit your days on ICAA Council as you network with your old council colleagues! Join us for refreshments and appetizers before joining the festivities at the 100th Anniversary Gala! Note: This event is for past members of ICAA Council and their significant others only.

It’s a party! Come to the Gala dressed in the styles of the year you received your designation and celebrate 100 years of history and achievement! There will be plenty of opportunities to visit with friends old and new as you enjoy a delicious dinner and stay long into the night. Expert dancers will demonstrate dances from years gone by, followed by an opportunity for you to show your own moves on the dance floor! As well, visit the gangster-era Casino Corner to take a gamble and earn “ICAA bucks” to redeem for CA-branded prizes.

Panel Discussion: 100 Years of Alberta CAs…and the Next 100 (8:00 – 9:00 am)

ICAA CEO & Executive Director Jane Halford CA will moderate a panel of prominent Alberta CAs as they talk about the profession’s proud past, the lessons they have learned as a CA, and share their perspective on the profession's promising future.

Morning Concurrent CPD Sessions (9:30 – 11:00 am)
Alberta’s Economic Future (presented by Todd Hirsch)
Ballroom C
Todd will address some of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses and the province of Alberta in today’s global environment, and provide his assessment of the likely future direction of the province’s economy.
Todd Hirsch is Senior Economist at ATB Financial, where he provides economic information and intelligence to the various lines of business at ATB. He is a well-known speaker and commentator on economic issues, appearing regularly on radio, television and in newspapers. He is also an instructor at the University of Calgary and acts as a mentor for the Economics Society of Calgary’s student mentorship program.

The Heart & Soul of Leadership: Creating Your Leadership Legacy (presented by David Simmonds)

This interactive workshop will introduce you to a new approach to leadership that is changing how we think about the relationship which exists between those who choose to lead and those who choose to follow. It will show you how adopting this approach will enable you to leave a leadership legacy you will be proud of.
David Simmonds is President, D.R. Simmonds & Associates, and a 2010 ICAA Distinguished Service Award winner. David is an organizational development consultant with over 40 years of corporate and management consulting experience. He has a long involvement with the ICAA and the CA profession, most notably in assisting in the design, development and delivery of the ICAA’s CFO Leadership Program.

Family Scavenger Hunt (11:00 am – 12:00 noon)

The whole family will be searching the Lodge inside and out to find all of the items on their scavenger hunt list! The hunt begins at 11:00 am and you will have an hour to find as many items as possible. This is a great way to explore the beautiful surroundings of the Jasper Park Lodge. Winners will be announced and prizes handed out at the end of the event!

Don’t miss this year’s informative AGM, when President Peter Stephen FCA takes us through the Year-in-Review presentation, marking recent milestones. The final election, voting results and Council for 2010/2011 will also be announced. Finally, helps us welcome incoming President Daryl Ritchie FCA to office! A light lunch will be served.

The good news is the power of this technology can be harnessed not only for marketing purposes, but to effectively build your relationships with clients and staff as well. You will be introduced to these tools, explore how they can be utilized, and why it’s important to start now.

Come applaud the achievements of this year’s Merit Award Recipients and celebrate the best of the best. These Alberta CAs and business leaders are being honoured for their success and accomplishments in their careers, the profession and their communities. Merit Awards include the Lifetime Achievement Awards, Fellows of the Chartered Accountants, Distinguished Service Awards and Early Achievement Awards. This is a black-tie preferred event.
